NEW CAROLINA will hold a statewide conference on entrepreneurship on April 7, 2011, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The conference will be held at the Harbison performing arts center, which is located on Midlands Technical College’s Harbison Campus (7300 College Street, Irmo, SC). The theme of the conference is “Conversations on High Impact Entrepreneurship.” The conference will bring together a wide range of South Carolina leaders who are involved in economic development and entrepreneurship-related programs.
The conference features the following sessions:
• Dr. Doug Woodward from USC’s Moore School of Business will announce the findings from a just-completed research report on Who is Creating Jobs in South Carolina.
• A panel of entrepreneurs will highlight the most important issues affecting the competitiveness of South Carolina’s high impact firms.
• Kurt Dassel, a Partner at Monitor Group (Cambridge, MA), will discuss various regional strategy-related options for promoting high-impact entrepreneurship.
• The meeting attendees will participate in a facilitated SWOT analysis to identify a handful of strategic objectives for building a stronger base of homegrown firms.
The registration fee for the conference is $75. The fee for registering on the day of the event is $125. Attendance will be limited to 200 people.
The conference is being co-sponsored by the SC-LAUNCH program within the South Carolina Research Authority, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, the South Carolina Economic Developers Association, and Midlands Technical College, CTC Public Benefit Corporation, and Blue Cross-Blue Shield of South Carolina.
